Upper Hand Software
INDIANAPOLIS –Indianapolis-based Upper Hand Inc. is growing its portfolio. The sports management software company had acquired Maine-based Double Blue Sports Analytics Inc., which specializes in video analysis technology for coaches and athletes. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed and Upper Hand did not state whether any jobs would be affected. Upper Hand says the acquisition, which includes Double Blue’s app-based video analysis platforms CoachCast and Save Review System, allows it to become the world’s first sports and fitness management platform to integrate video analysis and video coaching. “Double Blue Sports pushes the boundaries of what is technologically possible while also fulfilling an immediate need within our target audience,” said Kevin MacCauley, founder and chief executive officer of Upper Hand. “Video analysis is the future and delivers a new pinnacle of innovation in athlete development. By integrating CoachCast and SRS within our business management platform, sports professionals will see a dramatic improvement in coaching capabilities while driving positive business results.” Upper Hand says both the CoachCast and SRS platforms are used by sports professionals and organizations throughout the world. Specifically, SRS serves as a video and analytic platform for hockey goaltenders and is used by many athletes in the National Hockey Association. Upper Hand adds current Double Blue Sports customers will continue to have access to the products they’ve used in the past and will gain access to new features available through Upper Hand software. The Indy-based tech company was founded in 2011 and has since secured more than $2.4 million in funding, including a $1.1 million round that closed in August of last year.
