Guide to On-Demand and At-Home Fitness Classes and Workouts

At-Home Workouts
With gyms and fitness centers temporarily closing their doors nationwide, many of us are beginning to redefine how we get our exercise. On-demand workouts are more prevalent than ever, with a booming number of fitness services offering recorded and live-streamed workouts, as well as comprehensive programs available to download. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite workouts that you can do anywhere–from simple bodyweight routines to recently released streaming platforms, and workouts hosted by gyms and studios.

Virtual and Streamed Home Workouts

Social Media Workouts
If you do not know of many great exercises to do at home, the simplest thing to do is search for free workout videos. Platforms like YouTube and Instagram have thousands of channels dedicated to creating workout videos for all levels of fitness and difficulty. Additionally, because of the temporarily closures of gyms and studios nationwide, businesses are leveraging the power of social media to host free live classes. Here are some of our favorites (we will update often!)

Traditional At Home Workouts

Turn Daily Life into a Workout
The small steps you take to make your time at home beneficial to your fitness life will go a long way. If you live in an apartment building, take the stairs instead of the elevator. If you can, walk to do your quick errands. Cleaning the house and other housework can also burn calories. Continuing to stay up and active, even in the smallest ways, is the most important aspect to your new at home fitness plan.
Be Creative
Working out at home can be repetitive and restrictive. It’s important you make it as fun and enjoyable as possible! During your time at home, incorporate your workout routine with the show you are binge watching. Start family workout sessions. Use furniture as workout equipment. Create games out of the fitness program you select. The more interesting the idea, the better it will make your at-home workout.
Bodyweight Exercises
Having in-home gym equipment is not common for many people. Bodyweight exercises are nevertheless great ways to compensate for not being able to visit your fitness center. Consecutive sets of push-ups, planks, step ups, crunches, and lunges are just a few of the many methods of capitalizing on bodyweight exercises at home. Working out at home may not your usual way to get exercise, but you may find switching up your typical routine energizing! Additionally, you may find a new club or studio whose format you love in this period where many franchises are releasing public workouts. Ultimately, there are endless ways you can capitalize on your extra time at home; we highlighted only a few. No matter what you do, the key is sticking to it. No at-home fitness plan will work without the same level of dedication and effort put into workouts at your usual gym or studio.
