Another month, another look inside Upper Hand. In our Meet the Team series, we are introducing you to the incredible people that work on our team.

You’ve previously met Alexus Jimson-Miller, Aydan Koyles, and Sebastian Buckeridge. Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Matt Murphy!

Matt recently joined our sales team as a Sales Solutions Architect, where he is helps sports business owners visualize how Upper Hand can help them grow their business. With experience as an athlete and a coach, Matt has a deep understanding of the needs and concerns of sports facility and academy owners.

Ready to meet Matt? Let’s go!

First, the basics: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?

I am a 2020 Purdue graduate with a Marketing degree with experience in sales, marketing and account management. I am passionate about building relationships with others and using my skills to provide value and serve those around me. Blessed with a wonderful family and community around me here in Indianapolis, and blessed to have the opportunity to work in my favorite city!

What are your main responsibilities day to day?

I help bring in new business to Upper Hand. I work alongside the rest of our sales team to connect with prospects and business owners who could benefit from using Upper Hand’s sports scheduling software. In my conversations with prospective customers, I give them an online demo of our platform. Once they are ready to move forward,  I also assist in the transition of getting up and running on Upper Hand.

What excites you about working at Upper Hand?

I am excited to join a young team that is hungry to grow and serve customers in the sports industry. Let’s rock!!

How do you define success?

I define success in this role as assisting in the continued success of the sales team and boosting the number of new customers to Upper Hand. In the professional world as a whole, I would define it as taking each day as an opportunity to give 100% of your effort into improving and developing skills for the betterment of the organization you work for. Results will follow persistence.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Anything and everything sports. I enjoy playing golf, basketball, and working out in my free time. Additionally, I lead a Bible study group and am a team leader at the Porch Live Indy ministry in Broad Ripple. I also have the pleasure of coaching a local JV high school basketball team. Lastly, love cheering on the Colts (Go Horse!), Pacers and the Purdue Boilermakers!

What’s a fun fact people may not know about you?

This is a “built in” fun fact, but I am a triplet. Never a dull moment at home lol!
